Overview
ObsyMint Goals is a personal finance planning app. It does not require an account or a login. The financial information you enter (income, budgets, goals, bills, loans, school fees, and notes) is stored only on your device and is never uploaded to us.
The free version of the app shows banner ads and offers an optional one-time purchase to remove them. Those two features involve a small, separate amount of data, handled by Google and our purchase partner, described below. Everything else in this policy explains exactly what that involves and what it does not.
What we collect
None of your financial data. The app has no account, no login, and no server for it, so we simply cannot see it.
The only information we personally receive is:
- Email you send us. If you email [email protected] or use the in-app "Send feedback" link, we receive whatever you choose to write, plus your email address so we can reply.
- Contact form submissions. Our Contact page opens your own email app with a pre-filled address, so the message is sent from your email account, not collected by this website.
What we don't collect
- No account registration, username or password.
- No financial data leaves your device: not your budgets, goals, bills, loans, school fees, or notes.
- No analytics, usage-tracking or crash-reporting SDK is built into the app by us (no Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar).
- No location data. The app never asks for or reads your device's location. You can optionally type a place name onto a transaction yourself, and that text stays on your device like everything else you enter.
- No contacts, photos or messages.
- No advertising identifiers are collected by us directly. See Advertising for what Google's ad SDK itself processes.
Local storage and encryption
Your financial data is stored on your device using standard on-device app storage, and is encrypted at rest (AES‑256‑CBC with an HMAC‑SHA256 integrity check). The encryption key is generated on your device and stored only in the Android Keystore, your phone's secure hardware-backed storage. It is never written to a backup file in plain form, and it is never sent anywhere.
If you set an app unlock PIN, the PIN itself is never stored. The app keeps only a salted one-way hash of it, which cannot be turned back into your PIN, and repeated wrong guesses lock the app for a period. Fingerprint and face unlock are performed by Android itself; the app only learns whether the check passed and never receives biometric data.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of the app shows banner ads served through Google AdMob. AdMob is Google's ad SDK, and it processes advertising identifiers and related technical data on its own servers to select and measure ads, under Google's own privacy policy.
- If you're in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a similar region, you'll see a consent screen before any ad loads, letting you choose whether to allow personalized ads. You can change that choice any time from the app's Settings screen.
- Outside those regions, the app may show ads without that extra screen, as permitted by local law.
- Buying the optional Pro upgrade stops ad requests completely.
- Ads are never shown based on anything you've entered into the app. Your financial data is not shared with Google or any ad network.
Google's own practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy and, for ad personalization on Google's Ad Settings.
Purchases (Google Play & RevenueCat)
Users may purchase Pro as a one-time upgrade to remove ads and unlock additional features. It's a one-time purchase billed entirely through Google Play. We never see or store your card details.
To confirm your purchase and let you restore it on a new device, your purchase status is shared with RevenueCat, the service we use to verify purchases. RevenueCat receives details of the purchase itself, such as the product bought and a purchase identifier, but never your budgets, goals, or anything else you've entered in the app. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Backups
Backups you make yourself are encrypted with a password you set (AES‑256) and saved where you choose: "This Phone" writes the file to a folder you pick, and "Cloud" opens Android's share sheet so you can send it to Google Drive, OneDrive, email or anywhere else. Only someone with your password can read a backup. We cannot recover it for you if it's lost, because we never receive the password or the backup file.
You can also turn on weekly automatic backup. When it's on, the app writes encrypted copies on a schedule into its own private storage on your phone, using your phone's key. Those copies never leave the device, can only be restored on that same phone, and are deleted if you uninstall the app.
App permissions
- Notifications, exact alarms, and start after restart: to deliver bill and goal reminders at the right time, including after your phone reboots. Reminders are scheduled and shown entirely on your device; there is no push server, and nothing about your bills or goals is sent anywhere to produce them. The app may also ask you to exclude it from battery optimization so reminders aren't delayed.
- Fingerprint / face unlock: used only to unlock the app. The check is performed by Android on the device, and no biometric data reaches us.
- No storage permission. The app does not request access to your files, photos or media. Backups use Android's own file and folder picker, so the app only ever touches the specific file or folder you choose.
- Internet and network state: needed for ads to load and for purchases to be verified with Google Play and RevenueCat. Never used to send your financial information anywhere.
- Google Play Billing: for the optional Pro purchase.
- Advertising ID and Google ad services: used by Google's ad SDK in the free version, as described under Advertising. You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your Android settings.
- Vibration: light haptic feedback when you tap.
This website
This website (obsymint.com) does not use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, or non-essential cookies. See the Cookies Policy for details. If you follow a link from here to Google Play or another third-party site, that site's own privacy policy applies once you're there.
Data retention
Your financial data stays on your device for as long as you keep the app installed, or until you delete it yourself. We don't hold a copy anywhere, so there's nothing for us to retain or expire. Emails you send us are kept for as long as reasonably needed to respond to and resolve your request.
Deleting your data
Settings → Delete All Data erases everything instantly, on your device. Uninstalling the app also removes all local app data, including any weekly automatic backups held in its private storage. Because nothing is stored on a server, there is nothing else to delete on our end.
One thing to note: backup files you saved somewhere else yourself, such as a folder on your phone, Google Drive, or an email attachment, stay where you put them. Deleting the app's data or uninstalling it does not reach those, so delete them yourself if you want them gone. To ask us to delete an email conversation you've had with us, contact [email protected].
Third-party services
We keep third parties to the minimum needed to run the free, ad-supported version of the app:
- Google AdMob: serves banner ads in the free version. Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Billing: processes the optional Pro purchase. Google Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: verifies and restores the Pro purchase. RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
None of these receive your budgets, goals, bills, loans, school fees, or any other financial information you enter into the app.
Children's privacy
ObsyMint Goals is a general-purpose budgeting tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International users
ObsyMint is operated from the United Arab Emirates. Because your financial data is stored on your own device rather than on our servers, it stays wherever you are, regardless of where you download or use the app. If you contact us by email, that message is transmitted and stored using your own email provider and ours in the normal way email works.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. The effective version is the one published on this page and shipped with the corresponding app release. Material changes will update the "Last updated" date above.
